Puerto Princesa : City And Honda Bay DIY Tour

Palawan lies between the South China Sea and Sulu Sea. Known for picturesque water treasures, stunning rock formations and undeniably the greenest place in the country.

Famous landmark - Underground River

How to get there:

Various airlines fly regularly to Puerto Princesa.Together with 3 other friends, we booked our tickets from AirAsia for P8K (2K each) roundtrip for the month of August - which is totally fine since PPS rarely get bad weather. From the airport, inns/hotels are everywhere.

Where to stay:

There's a lot of affordable and nice accommodations throughout the city. Part of our list are: Badjao, Duchess and Princess Inn which room rate (for 4) ranges from P1,250 - P1,400 for fan room but we decided to just roam around and look for a cheaper rate. From PPS airport, we took a tricycle and asked "manong" to find us the nearest and cheapest place to stay and he brought us to Don Pablo Lodge which is 5-10mins away from the airport.

Aircon Room for 4 (2 double deck beds)

What to do:

Eat. As soon as we reached our place, since we're all hungry, we freshen up for a bit and off again. We had dinner at Kinabuchs. For less than P200, we had pork sinigang with rice and watermelon shake.

City Tour (Mini). From our place, we took a trike to visit nearby and free places since we don't wanna miss our flight back to Manila. We went to Baker's Hill and Mitra Ranch.

Baker's Hill is known for yummy "pasalubongs"

Captivating city view for FREE ! Thanks to Mitra Ranch :)

Honday Bay Island Hopping. we opted to do DIY for Honda Bay since it's not that hard to set than Underground River DIY tour and of course, it's cheaper. The standard tricycle rate from the city proper to Honday Bay is P700 back and forth but we got it for only P500 (can you believe that?!) and since Kuya Ronald is way to nice to us, we decided to give him P600 instead. On our way to Honday Bay port, we Kuya Ronald dropped us off at Padz where we rented snorkel and mask, booties and a GoPro3 (yes! a GoPro for rent!) cam. We visited 5 destinations, Luli Island, Pambato Reef, Starfish Island, Pandan Island and Cowrie Island.

We're not that excited huh ?! :)

1st beauty - Luli Island. Perfect for snorkeling. Fish everywhere!

Us and Luli's golden sand

Isn't that awesome ?! :)

2nd stop - Pambato Reef. As it is called, Pambato Reef is one of the places to enjoy Palawan's rich marine life. Golden rule : Keep your life vest on. We didn't have a lot of pictures here , videos, we do. :)

Pambato Reef

3rd stop. Starfish Island.  It is pretty obvious why this island called Starfish - there are a LOT of them anywhere!

Photo credit to our bangkero ! :)
4th stop. Pandan Island. The longest of of all 4 islands we visited. It has powdery white sand and peaceful ambience. He had our "paluto' lunch here for a very cheap price (we're 4 that's why).

Meet my soon-to-be-husband-and-wife friends, Mark and Jane :)

1 kl of rice, 1/2 kl of crab, 1/2 kl of fish, and 1 pc of SEA URCHIN !!

5th stop. Cowrie Island. My favorite! Small, cozy and lake-like island where you can go on swimming all day without getting tired. Water is so calm and relaxing.

We're in Cowrie (obviously) !!

Me and Jane, thanks to our GoPro3 :)
