Meet the Gentle Giants : Oslob

Twas 1:00 am when we left Manila to visit the Queen City of the South for the 2nd time (1st for Jay) hoping to discover more of Cebu's finest. I visited Bantayan and Malapascua early this year and I was blown out by their unique and stunning beauties. I decided to visit the southern part of the province to taste more of Cebu and it was all worth it.

Oslob is known for Whale Sharks visibility, I've read a lot of articles talking about how bad it is for the "gentle giants" to interact with humans and to be honest, it was not part of my original plan until a friend of mine said that it's okay as long as you follow the rules - confirmed by a marine biologist, so I decided to say hi to our friendly giants.

Twofie!
How to get there:

From Manila, fly to Cebu, head to South Cebu Bus Terminal (Cab 25mins for P200 at 3am - no traffic) and take a bus ride (Ceres AC P155, travel time is 3hrs) to Oslob.
PAL, CebuPac and AirAsia has regular flights to Cebu. Ceres is operating almost 24hrs so transportation won't be a problem (just make sure to leave early, traffic in Cebu is crazy.)

Where to stay:

Malonzo Pension House - (Highly recommended) Home away from home, that's how I can describe MPH. It reminds me of Marfel's in Batanes.

AC Room Rate: P1500/night for 2 pax
Amenities: Garden, honesty store, dining area
Direction: Bus from SBCT to Oslob, ask the driver to drop you off at Market. MPH is walking distance from the main road.
Contact Person: Ate Eva 09229327985, 09223201153

What to do:

Swim with the Whale Sharks
If you are heading directly to the whale sharks site, tell the bus conductor to drop you off at Whale Sharks watching site - they will probably drop you off at one of many lined up resorts BUT don't go inside, it should be walking distance to the Briefing Center and that's where you want to go. Why? Resorts have entrance fee (we paid P100/pax) but the Briefing Center doesn't.

Fee (includes life vest, snorkel and mask):
P500 - Pinoys
P1000 - Foreigners

If staying on the boat, P300 for Pinoys and P500 for Foreigners

Briefing Center

Yep !

Visit Tumalog Falls
Take a jeep along the highway and advise the driver to drop you at Tumalog Falls. Habal habal should be there waiting for you to take you to the top then you can either walk down to the falls or take another habal habal. We walked down but decided to take the habal habal going up the road is really steep and high!!

Stunning beauty indeed! Despite of being tall and big, Tumalog Falls has a very fine light flow. Cold and waist deep level water will surely capture your heart.

So pure and so cold !
Since we're already in the south, might want to visit Sumilon Island too! Check out this page about our Sumilon Day Tour.
