Oh soooo Sumilon

A little south of Whale Shark watching site is the gateway to this private island, Sumilon, owned and maintained by Bluewater Sumilon. I must admit, this island is quite expensive! I wanted to stay atleast for night but after checking out their room rates, I decided to skip it for now, good thing they have a Day Tour package where you can stay and enjoy the island the whole day!

Coming from Malonzo Pension House, Tatay Rudy sent us to Bluewater Sumilon Guest Area for P100/pax back and forth. You can also take a jeep or habal habal (more expensive). We left 7:30am and reached the guest area just in time.

We took the 1st boat trip (of course! make the most of chance!) and after 10-15mins easy boat ride, we reached our destination!!

Docking area in Sumilon
Yesssss! We made it! Sumilon indeed has a stunning beauty and mesmerizing vibe! We were so excited to start our day but we were starving to death so we decided to grab something for our bellies first.

Since Sumilon is a private island, everything here is being sold and serviced but Bluewater and quite expensive for backpackers like me LOL! Nway, we had no choice but to eat like a King and Queen. They have breakfast meal that costs 400 and above (yeah!!) and breakfast buffet of 550/person, we opted for buffet.

Bellies full and so we started our island adventure!

Island map

We headed to the locker area to deposit over belongings and pickup our free towels , life vests and snorkeling gears!

NOTE: They have open and private lockers, open lockers are for free but not safe if you're putting your valuables, private lockers has a key and a charge of P100. Lockers are pretty huge (not if you're carrying a luggage of course LOL), just bring change outfit, some cash (for emergency) and camera!!!

Swimming at the Infinity Pool

4 .. 5 .. 6ft !

Kayaking

Soooo relaxing .. and tiring lol

Snorkeling

Not a swimmer here sorry :(

Beach Bumming

A calm and clear Sumilon side
Body Surfing

Wild and strong waves on the other side where the sandbar is

Sumilon Island is indeed a must-visit place when in the South Cebu. It can be a little pricey but every penny worth it!

If you don't want to spend P1.5K for a day tour, you can arrange boats from mainland of Oslob to take you to Sumilon and have access to the sandbar, bring your own food and have fun!
